Some time there are defects that can change the growth , development and life of a baby. In one case there was a baby who was born with a rare hemimegaloencephaly. This rare hemimegaloencephaly was a disorder that caused one half of this babies brain to grow bigger and better than the other half. This rare hemimegaloencephaly only affects 1/1,000,000 babies. The fact that the right brain grew bigger and better than the left side of the brain caused the baby to have seizures. These seizures were very often in some cases there were more than 120 seizures in a day. To stop this a radical idea was proposed. The baby's brain was cut open and the left half of the brain was removed. As said in a previous article most of the brain can still function even with only one half of the brain. So the baby was not greatly affected the operation. Not only did the operation stop the seizures it also allowed him to understand language and communicate. According to the babies mom the baby and the family “were set free” by the operation.
