Alzheimer's Disease (AD ) is the largest and more basic form of dementia. AD destroys memory as well as many daily functions. AD is caused by toxic changes that occur in the brain. 2 protines , Beta- Amaloid and Tau become toxic to the brain. Tau forms everywhere eventually forming tangles inside the neurons. Beta – Amaloid clumps up outside the neuron clogging the sysnaptic terminals. When there is a large amount of Beta-Amaloid , Tau starts to spred. However there is other factors involed. One such example is the vascular system. The vascular system could fail to deliver blood and nessacury nutrients to proper parts of the brain. Also the brain could lack glucose a nessacry need to oprate the brain. Microgila do not have the capacity to clear away all of the debris caused by beta-amaloid and tau. Neurons do not have the power to communicate. This leads the neurons to die this causes the brain to shrink. This procces starts in the hippocampus. Symtomps of AD are memory loss , a hard time making decisions and language process. This leads to the person not being able to think ,remember and overall not function indepentaly. Here is a brain scan of someone who suffers with AD :
