The Coronavirus has infected and claimed the lives of thousands. The Coronavirus is not typically associated with a brain issue instead it often features problems in breathing and a fever. However, Covid-19 the diseases caused by the Coronavirus can lead to other problems. One of those are Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). ARDS can be caused by patients with severe cases of Covid–19 in the ICU.  ARDS causes a lack of cognitive function and ability. Patients with ARDS have shown problems with higher order cognitive function as well as trouble walking as well as other cognitive problems. ARDS also causes problems with talking. Taking and walking are both controlled by motor areas in the brain. Possibly the motor parts of the brain are damaged by ARDS. Research shows that the cognitive impairments caused by ARDS can last around 4 years. Along with cognitive disorders ARDS can cause many different brain disorders depression, anxiety and PTSD. ​
