Some previously undetected brain pulses have found to have new use. Previously unknown brain wave pulses can help brain circuits survive disuse as well as injury. MRI scans showed that some of the brain's main circuits responsible for movement of the body stopped working within 48 hours of a person wearing a cast that stops movement of that area of the body. However, "disuse pulses" were detected to maintain neural activity and be able to restore mobility. This shows that the brains cells could restore and rewire pathways after a stroke, broken bones or other events that can limit movement. In a study participant were told to wear a fiberglass cast. According to one of the people in the survey Nico Dosenbach he said. "Once my cast was removed, my right hand began to grow stronger, my left returned to its former role, too." Also, Dosenbach said that through the whole time his hand that was not wearing the cast the left one felt stronger. This could relate to other brain circuits and is open for further research.
